Life Drawing Session

Here's a second take on portrait painting in my life drawing class. I felt pretty good painting the first 20-30 minutes, blocking in the shades and shapes. But then the struggle began around the cheek, lips....all the way down. Layers upon layers later....I was only happy with the hair.

I'd be happy with more than her hair. Really nice work!

Hi!!

I like the color treatment and the lights and shadows as well. It reminds me to german expressionism.

Saludos!

Thank you Carmen, Mel and Chernin for wonderful comments. Hopefully I can loosen up more on the next session...but with this cold weather it's been difficult :)

This is a very strong painting, and you haven't tried to make it pretty, or vague on areas you weren't confident on. Good for you. It's good to get outside of your comfort zone.

Haha, thanks yellow. It's rough when you have one of those days when you feel like you can't draw or paint. I just listened to Stephen Silver's podcast#10 and it was refreshing to hear that it happens to the best of us. As long as we continue to "push".
